We Pay People who Pretend to be Doctors …

So the other day I caught a glimpse, by accident, of one of those entertainment shows, on which someone talks about and to actors, rock stars, and so on, and it hit me: we pay people who pretend to be doctors more than we pay people who actually are doctors.

Well, someone pays actors more than physicians. As an insured individual in the US I actually pay both actors and physicians rather poorly — maybe $10 to see a movie and a bit more in a physician co-pay. So the unusually large apparent discrepancy is likely due to the fact that many people are willing to pay $10 to be entertained and not as many get an annual physical or major healthcare (e.g. surgery)?
